Idle control valve/Disa qurstion

As part of headgasket repair pulled the idle control valve and disa.
ICV does not rattle as the stuff I have seen on the net says it should. Seems on cursory inspection to have lots of carbon in the pipes. (95k mileage m54,3.0).
Disa has lots of sludge on the flap.

Sprayed bit of carb cleaner in the ICV, so far no movement. Haven’t touched the Disa yet. Is cleaning these lightly a strategy or need replacing?

Thanks.

I cleaned my ICV and got it to rattle, but I decided to replace it with a new one anyway.

I kept getting error messages about my ICV. I pulled it and thoroughly cleaned it. It would rattle like it was supposed to. Reinstalled it. Got more error messages, so I replaced it. No errors since.
