No Radio/ 3 of 4 window switches inop after jump start

X had been sitting for a few weeks resulting in drained battery. When jump started, the left rear window went down without any buttons pushed and MID completely blank. The only window switch working is passenger side rear. Checked radio fuses 7, 23 and 24 which all appeared good (changed anyways) Don't know what fuses control the window switches. Any ideas/similar experience? 2003 3.0, automatic, 222K miles.

Disconnect the battery for five minutes and reconnect to reset the computer.

Disconnected negative cable for about 20 minutes, no change.

How old is the battery? Did you read any fault codes (please share)?

In all cases, put a full (overnight or longer depending on the charger) charge on your battery. Funny things on these vintage BMW's can often be from a battery which should be sent to Valhalla.

Super sensitive to voltage, I trust you used the jump points under the hood as well. If so, check the voltage at rest after sitting overnight through the cluster; or you can take it to any auto parts store and have them test the alt and battery to rule out power issues.

I heard years ago that you should never jump a BMW cause the computers were way too sensitive and somehow can overload and that batteries should only be trickle charged in the car.

I'm sorry if I'm the bearer of bad news

You can jump with no issues using the jump points under the hood. I've been doing it for 15 years. The No No is to jump directly to the battery - which is difficult to do in an X5 given it's location. It is however easy to do in sedans, like the E38.

Jumped from under the hood. Battery is probably due for replacement.

Second bad news bearer. I have had to JS using the under hood connections a number of times and usually the MID went inop in some way or other. Usually the disconnect the battery, leave for a short time and reconnect did the trick and everything went back to normal until the next jump start.
Then, one time, the trick did not work and I had to pull the MID and disconnect it. That restored the fully op situation and all was well. A number of years later after the V1 left connected killed the battery and I had to jump start nothing would restore the MID to standard op. I ended up securing one the exact same on fleaby and installing it so I could set the time, change between AM & FM and get more than two stations on the radio.
Good news the MID worked great; bad new it needs the pixel repair. Irony is the MID I pulled had perfect pixels, no stations and always 4 hours and 33 minutes out of time but you could see every pixel.

New battery and everything works as it should. Now I'm having battery drain issues. MID was recently sent off for pixel repair -- probably not related, but I've got to start somewhere to figure out what's draining the battery. Any thoughts?
