I did mine years ago, but there was no removable cage. I used a hot knife, but the frame was not butter. Looked ugly but necessary. I also added some timber battens which supported the case of the Eonon so the factory mounting screws took no weight, but just anchored the unit in.

Thank you for the image. So Im assuming you have to cut the entire cage out? I was hoping that was the case just in case at a later time I end up selling the X5 I was hoping to put the old equipment back in but guess once you go this route no going back.

The image in my other post is what remained in the cavity, I can't recall what it looked like before I began. I'd say that there is no real way back to stock though.

Thats what I was hoping for but guess its one or the other. And honestly Im leaning more towards the aftermarket lol.
