P 5 -247 ... what is my X trying to tell me?

Just changed the original thermostat on my 02 3.0. Showed up in the annuciator window where the computer tells you it’s 37 degrees, beware of slippery roads. I guess German ice is warmer than American ice ?
Anyway, anybody ever seen this one ?
Thanks
Mike

I get ice warnings (gong and message) if the outside temps gets down to 3DegC. or below.

Always assumed it was normal and they all did that. 37DegF. seems about the same as 3DegC.

On the BC Message display? Nope - that's a new one.

Sound more like what you would see on a parking spot...

No luck finding out what the P5 error was about, but 3/37° is the universally accepted temperature where evaporation will aid water to possibly freeze on bridges. The warning is because most people will assume water will be liquid down to 0/32°.

May just be a preemptive warning because it doesn't have to be an ambient temperature of below freezing for snow and ice to accumulate on the roads.

Yeah - it is just that. But that's not the question. The question is: what is the message "P5 247" all about...?

Well, I just called my local BMW Stealership for more info and they stated it sounds like a generic message code from an OBII Scanner. It's not anything they have record of with their system exclusive to BMWs.
