I’ve thought about the ignition switch also. It just seems like there is a brain behind whatever is happening. If the car cranks but does NOT start. The fuel pump will cycle with key off. With the key on in no start condition it cycles once for ign on and shuts off. IF it starts and you shut it back off it doesn’t do anything abnormal.

EDIT: another thing I wanted to mention. I can now tell when the car isn’t going to start. When you turn the key to position 2. The fuel pump relay clicks fast 5 or so times. Swapping it with other relays do that same thing. Even after it does this it runs as normal. (Yes I pulled fuse panel down and confirmed) if you go back to my video you can hear it as soon as I turn the key.

I just mailed my DME to sia electronics for a repair and return. They said if it tests good it’s only an 89 dollar charge.

DME is the likely candidate. Depending on their repair price it can be cheaper to get a matched set: ews, DME, key.

It’s 218. Cheapest set I found was 300. But even if you get all new stuff. How does the key work with your door? Or do you get a lock also?

I would probably swap key guts but you can change the lock cylinder of the door.

I have found that if I clear my engine adaptations in the wrong order, or clear the wrong one last, it will do crazy stuff like crank and no start, no crank, crank and run insanely bad, throw an engine failsafe, etc..

I can fix this by....
Clear all adaptations then go to adaptations list and clear the top one - try it
Clear all adaptations then go to adaptations list and clear the 2nd one - try
Clear all adaptations then go to adaptations list and clear the 3rd one - try

I don't remember exactly because it was a long time ago..
I thought I screwed something up bad with INPA and was going to need the dealer, but then I tried clearing specific adaptations last and it fixed it.

It might have something to do with clearing only the idle adaptation that screws it up..

Your cranking and no firing reminds me of screwing with INPA too much and confusing it..

Got dme back today. They said “the connector plug was broke”. I’m not really sure what that means but it seems to be working now. On a side note does anyone know how to diag the fault 5DEC?
