Or maybe it was just a different connector. All I remember when I had a 4.6is parts car I didn't keep it because something was different than my 4.8 lol sorry

The Dinan part is only the MAF housing. The stock sensor is transferred to the Dinan housing. The sensor can be different but it won't matter unless the bolt pattern is the same as the 4.6.

I believe the way the wires, tubing routed is different so it won’t install properly, plus the pipes going to the intake then to maf then Tb are diff.

The connector to the MAF housing uses the stock connector. The Throttle body connector is also the same as stock. The throttle body connector doesn't change location. There is sufficient slack in the MAF connector wires. There are two rubber sleeves. One is at the exit of the airbox and one is at the throttle body. They would be opportunities for some adjustment difference.

I suggest going to a BMW dealer that installs Dinan products and get their input, call Dinancars or Steve Dinan who is no longer associated with Dinancars.

Buy it. It will work.
I installed the Dinan CAI on my '05 4.4i and it installed properly and works as it should but I did nothing more than buy and install an e70 N62b48 throttle body (which is larger diameter than a e53 N62B48 throttle body OR a Dinan TB for e53...

The stock MAF sensor is transferred to the Dinan housing. There is slack in the 4.6 MAF sensor wiring. If not enough all you would have to do is splice in what you need.

Dinan products go through significant research, testing and development. I wouldn't use a larger diameter TB than the Dinan offering. Also, unless you can find a Dinan tune that takes advantage of the CAI, there will be very little improvement in performance. It will sound much better but that's about all.

---this is good to know. So the Dinan tubes from CAI to MAF and from MAF to TB are larger diameter than non Dinan air tubes...

--- the sound is the ONLY reason I purchased it. My tune on 4.4 was done way before I got a Dinan CAI and without a TB or MAF and respective tubing it's of no sense for me to get Dinan tuning.

Yes, all components of the Dinan CAI system from box through TB are larger in diameter than stock pieces. Decreasing the size will compromise the intent of increased air flow. That is also true if the low restriction cone filter is not included.

As I understand it CleanIsFast has yet to purchase the Dinan CAI system. I wanted to be sure he is aware if better performance is the goal the CAI won't deliver much if anything without the complimenting Dinan tune.

I did not buy the DINAN CAI, I passed for now. But it's still good information to know. And yes of course I would get a tune to go with it.
