Might want to go to the Dinan website and read about the transmission software. IMO it is a great value, well worth the money if only for the fun factor.

I purchased all the Dinan engine/transmission performance mods except the supercharger just after break in. Since I have never had a transmission fail I often wonder if the transmission software helps longevity.

How did you like the Dinan transmission software on your 4.6is? Was the truck otherwise stock?

I have the specs for a n62b48 throttlebody from dinan and a shop that will do the work on an OEM throttle body, it just won’t say dinan on it.

Currently working on superscharger kits for all e53 x5s as I have the specs and parts as well. Ill be replicating tubing, and making tubing for an intercooled version as well. I also have one of the best tuners that I will reach out to come time to make the different tune for different engines and stages I make of the sc kits. Would anyone be interested? Trying tobdecide which blower to go with. Vortech or hks..any input?

I'd prefer a turbo kit... but if I have to settle, SC will do just fine. Keep us updated.

I'd love to put a roots or twin screw supercharger on our 4.8iS

IT WILL BE TONS OF FUN but go in with eyes wide open.

In today's world 500-600 HP and the same in torque is no big deal unless it transfers to a 4.0 from 0-60 or better. If top end is your thing it takes much more HP to get to an impressive top end. The X5 has just too much frontal area.

I researched superchargers and twin turbos options. To do it right both routes were 8 to 10 grand and there were too many unknowns. The max result was about 150 HP and less than that in TQ after plowing the new ground. I didn't see the value based on $$ spent per HP/TQ increase. To get more the heads and exhaust need to modified to allow more 'air' out. Also, transmission software is needed to change shift points and to have a fully manual shifting trans.

Other considerations are that increasing HP and torque increases the risk that other parts of the engine, transmission and drivetrain will fail. While the bottom end of some of our engines are near bulletproof they usually have 100,000 or more miles of wear. I wouldn't have done the mods I have if I wasn't fine with blowing something up, If I couldn't DIY everything, if it had to be reliable or a daily driver.

The Dinan transmission software changes the shift points to a better power range. In full manual mode the transmission will not shift until you do so. Shifts will be firmer and quicker but their claim is only .01 improvement from 0-60. I think it is a great value for even a stock X5 and especially to get more out of engine mods.
