Electrical problems
If you put the headlights in automatic mode they flash on and off very quickly. If you use the manual on/off side of the switch they stay on. The interior dome light goes on and off. The wipers work, then fail mid-sweep, then randomly start to work again for a second then stop. In my reading I found info on the GM3 body control module. Emailed Scott at BMW General Module 5 (GMV, ZKE V) and he told me he has never seen these issues with a GM3 going bad. I guess I'm starting to think bad ground connection somewhere? Anyone seen anything like this before? I searched and it seems like a good BMW scan program is GT1? I see a bunch of ebay listings but no official site to purchase it? |

Tackle one thing at a time, it's not unlikely that the three problems are not related. I think GT-1 actually refers to the BMW tool that runs DIS and some other software which is what you are looking for. You will need a laptop to run it and if the package includes the WDS wiring diagrams it could be a huge help with the electrical problems.

Check out the connections behind the review mirror where your rain sense and day/night sensors are mounted- not saying that’s he issue but with the auto headlight issue and the auto wiper issue seems the “auto” portion of those may be experiencing a problem. I know I ha e seen oil film on my windshield totally screw my rain sense wipers... just thinking out loud. Good luck!

Thanks good lead!
A little googling and it seems like that might be relevant and causes all types of weird electrical issues. |
