I'm wondering if a splitter could be used so that the rear cam could be used for both DVR and for backup? I don't see why not as long as the camera has power.

Thanks Prop for finding that. Might order one to pair with my head unit. Been wanting dual DVR. Might have to rewire my rear cam to have 12v+ all the time when vehicle is on.
As far as I know, there wouldn't need to be an additional splitter. Since the rear cam is ultimately plugging into the rear cam port it should be good. The splitter is in the DDVR harness?

We plugged the backup camera into the main harness "Reverse Camera." All worked fine. I meant split the camera signal to plug one end into the front DVR camera (other end of this intercept would plug into the "Rear Sight Video" that is on the dual DVR harness) and the other would plug into the standard "Reverse Camera" on the main harness. This seems like it would utilize the backup cam for both the "Rear Sight Video" feed and the "Reverse Camera" feeds. Without the splitter you'd have to choose one input or the other at the back of the Avin. No? Or am I just confusing myself?

I think it should work as backup cam and within the DVR app but who knows... I will find out eventually when I finally drop the paper on the unit.

Finally got the AVIN DDVR-CAM2 installed and wired up with rear camera wiring. Since everything ended up joining at the right side A-pillar, I ran the rear camera RCA cable and separate power wire for the rear camera down the right side. The DDVR USB cable, RCA rear camera cable and rear camera power wire is neatly tucked right behind the MID and ready for the Avant-4 once I get it.

@OB - that looks good! I really like the fact that it is almost completely hidden by the rear view mirror on the inside.

Nice work!

Agreed. Very nice. I think we put Mouse's in a VERY similar location. We had to try to avoid a nick (and toll tag) in the windshield though so I think his is slightly more to the passenger side. Still very stealth though.

Crowz and I were discussing the Avin DDVR-CAM2 and we can not find the specs for it at all on the Avin site or on the interwebz. I would like to know the resolution, lens specs and what is the maximum size card it will accept.

Also, the gray adhesive pad is the only thing I may go back and correct. Sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Why would they provide a gray adhesive pad for a windshield?

OK, pulled the trigger, the Avant-4 is shipping tomorrow. I head to Mid-Ohio on Tuesday for the Acura Sports Car Challenge racing our LMP3 prototype cars in IMSA so it should be here when I get back. Coming off our win in Sebring, we are looking for another win.
