How Long are You Planning to Keep These Cars?

So, what's the general consensus for how long to keep the E53. Right now, it's a 13 -20 year old car and I've seen quite a lot of them still driving. How much longer do you think you are going to keep yours?

I’m on like 10 years and just under 115k miles, I’m aiming for at least twice that before I retire mine

Heck, I’m looking at another 2002 4.4i to add now!

I bought mine 3 yrs ago, it had 94k miles, dealer maintained with records, and was in pristine shape. It is a 2003 with the 5 speed manual.

These cars make a really good value proposition for someone who can actually work on them. I paid 6300. See what kind of 4runner or 4-door Taco you can buy for 6300. You're gonna be looking at a 96-99 with over 200k miles. I tow a camper with mine and it's a better tow vehicle than the 2000 Tahoe I was using before (and way nicer, better on gas, and actually fun to drive).

3 years later, I think this was one of my best car decisions ever. It hasn't really had that many problems, and preventative maintenance has given me an excuse to spend time in the garage, but on my own terms.

I'd like to keep mine for 5 more years, but mostly because there are basically no tow vehicles that I would rather drive. I'd rather buy an RV than tow my camper with a boring autotragic soccer mom SUV. At least then I wouldn't have to drive an appliance every day.

Mine is 2006 X5 6spMT with 130K and Bavarien E39 CCV Mod.

I usually keep cars until 180K-200K range then sell it, simply b/c too many issues at that mileage.

I’ve had my 2005 4.4 for 11 years. It’s now at 140k miles. I’m curious if it can hit 1,000,000 miles So we’ll see

I still have my 99 E46 with over 250k mi., so I guess I'm not afraid to keep 'em going beyond 200k. I'll probably do the same with this one, and I don't drive a lot each year, so it could take me a lot of years to get there from my current 127k. Heck, I would have kept driving my E46, but I just felt the E53 would better match my current needs from a vehicle (towing and AWD mainly). If the paint/appearance deteriorates, I may unload it sooner, but it still looks good right now.

AM.

Well Im on X5 #3 now so I guess forever is how long I'll keep them. Im bad about buying cars and never selling them.

Now that said 3 is the limit on the X5's probably. If we get another one it will be an X7.
