My goal is to double the miles from when I bought it. About 256,000 miles. I'm at 178 now so 78,000 to go.

You've inspired me. Mine had 11k miles. I'll go 20x! 140k now. Maybe 3x?

I'm hoping the M57 engine variants prove as long-lived - so far that seems to be the case - 232,000kms on mine and it's still running like new. I see a few M57s with over 300,000kms on them but they tend to be beaters by that point, due to so much "deferred maint.".

We have 265500+km (165000+ miles) on our M57 (2010 x5 35d) so I'm right there hoping along with you. Still runs great but have been getting some recent sporadic errors relating to the SCR tank I believe. If I can't source parts reasonably, I'd hate to delete the ABC systems because I hate the diesel smell, but it is what it is.

My '05 M57TUD30 is pre-DPF and SCR, so none of that to worry about.

And I kinda like the smell of diesel in the mornings... better than petrol fumes from a rich-running (cold) engine...

I plan on keeping mine till I'm rich enough to pay someone to tell me what time it is...

As for the smell of diesel? I have a 4.8iS so I've never been behind one....

Only every time you have to stop for gas.... I can get up to 800 miles from a tank!
