Steering angle sensor coding

I have installed a new steering angle sensor on a 2006 X5. I have the NIPA software and I'm new to it. I'm where it codes the sensor all I'm getting is the dots moving up and down pretty fast. It says its running have let it run about 20 looks like nothing is happening. Can any one tell what I should be seeing and how long it take. Thanks

Inpa won't code it. You need ista-p, progman, or other coding software. Inpa can only calibrate.

I've read both way whether INPA will do it . I have SSS Progman on here will have to play with it. Looks like the INPA doesn't do any more than my Autel scanner

Progman will do it. That's what I used on my E83. Like all these softwares, it's not totally intuitive, but I was able to figure it out without too much trouble. Make sure you have a decent battery charger hooked up before you start coding. Also, make sure you don't have any uncleared codes or Progman won't be able to code it. I had an SRS code that I hadn't cleared and couldn't get my SAS coded until I got that SRS code cleared.
