Thanks for this info. Post #29 should be a sticky complete with symptoms.

That's funny. Since I have two, it's like one gets jealous if I spend any time working on the other.

No kidding. I worry Red is like that sometimes as well. Right after this repair during cleaning I discovered axle grease being slung around the right front axle.

Good idea. Added symptoms, part number, and links to the appropriate TIS procedures. They were earlier in the thread as well, but this keeps them with the solution.

All 3 of mine get jealous of each other. So it must be a universal thing.

SOLVED Air Suspension Finally Got Me

I thought it was just me. I thought maybe I was even losing my mind? LoL..

Every time I get a check light and one goes in, the other decides to throw a fit and give a check light. This has been happening for years. Crazy!

Apparently a "no charge" option BMW installed on EVERY model they've ever made since OBD2 in '96.

Well, in my exuberance (and probably hubris), I made the classic mistake. Screw with something that's not broken. So it inevitably breaks. You'd think I'd learned something over 20 bimmers, but nope.

So I attempted to lower the ride height on my E53 today so it would look snazzier and I could be like all the cool kids. Lowered it okay using the Foxwell and zero'd the ride height out. Looked really cool, the kids would be envious. So I figured I'd see how it feels at the lower ride height. Well, it feels like you would think it would. Harsher. Plus the DSC was unhappy and threw an invalid ride height code, the EHC threw 64 EHC Distortion plausibility, got a SLS inactive error, and the DSC threw up the flat tire indicator. Beautiful.

No problem, it's kinda harsh... I'll just set it back to where it was. Start messing with it, first tried to calibrate the ride height but that didn't work. Kept telling me the measurements were within tolerance of the target (708mm), no adjustment needed. This is even though the front was sitting at (690mm). Ugh. Okay, every time you try and calibrate it puts the system into Line mode and transport mode. I turn those off. I go into the house to get a drink and come back and the air is out of all 4 corners. They are sitting on the tires. SWEET! Now the three adjustment lights are blinking non stop and nothing happens.

I am hoping I just have to start the truck and it will let me mess with it some more as I was trying to adjust things with the truck off but with a charger on to hold voltage. Wife says the truck is loud and she can smell the exhaust in the house even though I have a fan blowing towards the garage door and the truck backed up to almost being outside the garage, need a level floor remember. Fine.

F*ck me, where's the beer?!

Aargghh, Crystal. I hope you can work it out.

If I were closer, I would bring you a Karbach.

Hopefully, you can still communicate to the EHC2 module.

Mine failed 4 years ago and was due to me effing around with the ride height via INPA and ISTA.

I got it to settle and enjoyed the lowered ride height...then two days later while driving...it deflated the fronts only and heard loud bang.

Both CV axles are bent .....very costly....Had to buy EHC2 module not cheap and Front CV axles.

Coded new with ISTA-P and left it alone since then.

So be careful...
