Will probably disassemble some of that and check all the connectors. May have left the ICV electrical disconnected or something. I started it up with the MAF connected but not in line. When I put it inline that car stalled and I could feel vacuum when I reinstalled. Also, don’t feel any vacuum at the oil filler. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

MAF out of the air path will send very confused signal to the car (basically not getting any air = max rich mix).

Will hook my scanner up later but there is plenty of fuel pressure just by touching the Schrader valve.

First time start after headgasket not so good.
You have to measure not just squirt. You can use a tire pressure gauge (I would just use a less than favorite one in case gas messes with the seals inside).
Fuel trim read with scanner. Short term fuel trim and long term.

Won’t stay running with the MAF sensor inline. If I disconnect the MAF of remove it from the intake tube to get it running, will the fuel trim numbers be valid?

Update: put my wife’s e46 MAF in the e53, smaller opening so I had to ductape it to make a decent sale. Ran fine. One symptom is hers causes a stall when I disconnect it, mine does just the opposite and stalls when I connect it.

Run with her MAF and get some fuel trim readings. I suspect fuel pressure problems

Whenever you have a problem that you didn't have before you did work always check your work first and thoroughly. Always believe there are no coincidences, that something else
does not happen togo wrong while the vehicle was torn down. When the MAF is disconnected the engine runs on stored maps to determine correct air/fuel ratio. That the reason it runs fine with the MAF disconnected. That doesn't mean the MAF is bad. First troubleshooting I would do is check for a vacuum leak or air getting into the engine after the MAF.
