Unhappy Drop-in replacement stereo for 4.8is with DSP

Does such a thing exist? The speakers are adequate for my needs - I just need some better connectivity (e.g. Spotify, Bluetooth). Navigation would be nice to have as well...

I've done some reading and I found a lot of nice stereos that have that OEM look but they all say they won't work with the DSP system.

Is there a plug-n-play system available that replaces the OEM unit?

Also, once I replace the OEM unit I can't set the clock / reset the trip meter etc anymore right? Or is there a workaround for this?

Alot of people had great results using the eonon units thats plug and play and come 5.5m cable to run from your dsp system to the head unit up front to maintain facctory controls

I am using the AVIN Avant-4 with pretty good results. As with all Chinese aftermarket head units they lack proper customer support but it is there via email and I have been fairly satisfied. I have a 2004 with DSP and this unit is a direct plug and play unit. If you already have factory navigation, it drops right in. If you have the Business CD with Mid there is a little trimming but not enough to change it forever if you ever want to go back to stock.

You need the iBus adapter for the DSP to function and it is included when you order for DSP. The iBus adapter also allows for resetting the factory OBC values.

Price has dropped again to $399 for the base model.

Wow, $399! I'd go for this! It looks so OEM. I have Dynavin N6 (ripped off for $699 a few years ago) and I'm ready to throw it out the window at the slightest excuse. It works fine but I'm fed up it's a closed proprietary operating system with no apps to be installed as opposed to an Android operating system. So you miss out on the iBus adapter and therefore there's no way of resetting the factory OBC values and system date/time, other than, of course, reconnecting the old factory unit just to do that .

It is my opinion that this is the best system out there for our X5's at the moment with or without DSP. The specs currently are Android 9.0, Octa-core PX5 CPU, 4 GB DDR RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The system is snappy with no delay on multiple apps. I ordered mine with iBus adapter, iGo offline maps navigation, front and rear camera recording DDVR with lane departure and collision avoidance. A2DP streaming media works flawlessly but I did need to replace the internal microphone with an external microphone mounted in the overhead console.

As I mentioned earlier, there will be some tweaking and some small issues but in the end, it has so far been a decent upgrade.

I’ve done both, one with a Nav and the other with a business CD. If you have business CD then there are inputs and it’s a straight plug and play. Pretty simple install... If you have the Nav screen then regardless of which brand you choose you need a cable to run from boot to dash. Dynavin calls it a fakra cable...
