Got all four tires changed (BUT had alignment 10 days ago-do I need it again now?))

Ok all you fellas must be fed up of my posts, apologies, but here is the latest got all 4 tires changed today (was worried running different treads patters would bugger my transfer case etc),BUT 10 days ago had suspension work done at rear and that required an alignment which was done, do I need to redo the alignment again now due to the tires being changed?

Alignment done by the rim. Tires not involved. (Unless using road force alignment).

ok thanks hmm indeed now that I think of it at the alignment place I saw the 'claws' attached to the rims of the cars being aligned, there is that damn wobble at 65mph and over say 0.5-1cm up as you hold steering at quarter to 3 and let go,it is getting on my nerves, as just feel it is a reason for my fronts getting worn, ALLLL input has been great but don't know where to start, rotors? balancing again (eventhough just had all 4 tires changed and persists) or as you said some other worn component.....ps there is play in the steering wheel to probably the same extent when the car is off and parked. Thus far has not been possible to tighten.

Uneven wear is almost always too much or too little toe. (Or driving habits/tire inflation issues). The jiggle is very likely crown related does it go away on curves?

If you can't feel the wobble look into the flex joint in the steering shaft and also the slip joint that allows the wheel to move in and out.

Yes andrewwynn does go away on the soft curves on highway I tried but I try not to hit curves at 60mph and over (would be bit risky ding now hands or your 2 fingered approach on harsher bends ) and nope don't feel wobble

Now the flex joint you mention if its the one that has a U type end? then the garage years ago tried to tighten it but couldn't anymore, I went to them as there was slight play in the steering when car was off...that can't be right and could be the issue I guess.

Again thanks for all your time and input on this one....
PS just got my head round this, that if the steering is lose so to speak the wobbling of tires from side to side is not transmitted to the steering wheel the extent I would feel it had the steering been tight, correct?

Yes correct. If the wheels can wobble a bit but the steering wheel is in a dead spot there will be no feedback. When you let go the steering wheel will move to one side of the dead spot and get batted to the other. That's the theory.

All said I'm still betting on the control arm. Just replaced my wife's right rear front axle version tonight.

It was quite easy to replace the control arm but I couldn't get the inner tie rod to move so my alignment needs correction: I'm at zero toe and the steering wheel is tilted a bit cw.

I need to do the left side then hopefully I can get a bigger wrench that will break the inner tie rod loose.

I'd like to have 9' of toe each wheel according to spec but also have the steering wheel level when driving straight.

righto, so is this not something a reputable alignment place should have picked up on? or would it have been dependent on me telling them I had steering shake? Initially car went for alignment as the rose bushings and some links at rear were done....same place last year suggested these parts needed attending to when i took there after the front wishbone was swapped and again car needed aligning

The subtle wiggle you are dealing with would not show up on the lift. Only just the right test drive will fish it out

i had a frozen tie rod replaced it and the rotors and had alignment it seemed to fix the same problem i had that you did. also lift car rotate tire in air if you a funny noise like a tires not freely rotating no friction its your rotors are warped
