Although we don't have the traffic news at the top of the hour like they do in Europe (where this feature was really made for)...I do find it useful as a way of keeping track of time when running a lot of errands...or on a long road trip...or letting me know that I'm late for work and need to come up with a good excuse.

The actual hours/minutes may not be on my mind when doing any of the aforementioned...but when I hear those 3 little beeps...I know that its at the top of the hour, or another hour has clicked off (on the journey) etc.

It's kind of like having a grandfather clock that goes off on the hour...or the "village bell tower" from way back in time to help keep track of time.

You have to turn on the MEMO function (via NAV or MID).

Not sure why...and you have no vehicle info or set-up info (Nav or high MID or low MID?) that may help give a reason.

I'm not sure if the LOW MID (doesn't have the BC button) has the Hour Memo...but if it does...go back to the first few posts (I think post #7 was the first one that gave instructions on how to initiate the Hour Memo).

I've never had a BMW that had the low MID set-up...so I can't say for sure if it's possible. But if you have the high MID or the Nav monitor...then see the instructions on the 1st page as to how to activate this feature.

If you have the low MID...and you press the clock button and the MEMO prompt doesn't appear in the MIDs display...then the low MID doesn't have this feature.

The pic below shows a HIGH MID with the clock/timer button pressed which brings up the clock features of the high OBC...you can see on the right side of the display where you can turn the HOUR MEMO OFF (2nd press of same button will turn HOUR MEMO ON):
