part number for plug for rear hatch grip/ license plate lights
To my dissapointment when I removed the old one I was greeted with a the mess in the attached pic. No words to describe it... I need the part number of the plug on the cars side that slots into the white 4 pin socket. Anyone know what it is or where to find the equivalent? The wiring of the pins would also be good to know.. Don't really want the start breaking apart the new one, and soldering the wires to those small pins is goinfg to be difficult. Thanks! |

Yikes - what a mess...
Btw, it helps if you put you car model and year in your signature. But since I know you have a 2002 4.6is, here the tailgate wiring diagram... https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...button/bLOXxr0 The switch is S117 and your 4-pin connector is X1739. Looking for a source now....

Go to a breaker and cut the plug off. Easiest way to get a body side harness. Otherwise BMW makes you build one as they sell the pins, harness connector, etc all as separate pieces. Big pain much of the time.

Good call - the connector is likely to be used in multiple location, on multiple vehicles...

Right you are. Went to a local scrap yard. They've never had a e53 but a couple of e39. Found an identical connector in the passenger side dashboard airbag |

I'm looking for some help with the upper hitch.
Don't ask me how, but I accidentally deleted the relay for the upper tailgate, including the wiring that was going to it... The relay is K70 but I can't really find a full wiring diagram I'm just trying to figure out how to wire it up the way it was before, to be able to open my upper tailgate. Looking at the following diagram, I understand that the switch for rear hatch, S117, has the 4 wire connector. 2 wires go to the licence plate lights, 1 goes to ground and one goes to the switch. On the other end, they go to the LCM and GM3 So I'm trying to figure out how the whole system works and looking for more wiring diagrams but I'm not the best at reading them. |
