The level sensor didn't seem to fix it. I installed it, did the ride height calibration in ISTA, and nothing changed. Looking at it in INPA, the other values are now much closer to the front left (from about -360 to -20ish) so not sure whats going on, but front left still shows 0. Suspecting the module is faulty, found one for $220 so gonna give that a shot

In the meantime I was at least able to pick up these door lock pin trims I ordered. Small detail but really makes a big difference!

I assume you checked the 5V and 0V supply to the connector? If those are there then check the 0V-5V signal on the sensor when rotating the lever.

I didn't check that... it was 115 outside (my shops an outdoor shop) so I was kind of eager to get in and out. I was drenched in sweat by the time I was done.

I'm going to re-code the module using NCS expert, then see whats going on with it. If it still isn't working, I'll go back to the shop later and check out the sensor voltage.

Best to check the voltage. Could be a broken wire. 3 wires there, here is the pinout for the front left sensor.

0V pin 1
Signal pin 4
5V pin 5.

I've been fiddling with it INPA for a bit. My friend told me I should re-code the module in NCS so I did, and afterwards it looks like I am getting voltage at the sensor

I'm also getting this new error. This would look to me like the module is faulty - can anyone confirm?

It's also possible I calibrated it incorrectly in INPA, it was a little unclear on the calibration process and now everything is just zero'ed out... think I'm gonna head back to the shop later and re-calibrate it in ISTA again and see what happens. I do slightly suspect I calibrated something wrong and it is looking for incorrect values and tripping itself out...

Looks like the front left has values now in your INPA shot. How did you recode the module? Send it a blank .man file?

Yes to all of that. Flashed a blank .man file. Previously it was giving me a "Late Configuration Error" occasionally. That has not come back since coding it, but the ECU memory error has now popped up. But I do still suspect I messed that up myself, so I'm going to dig a bit deeper in ISTA and see whats going on.

I didn't even make it back to the shop...

Cause I fixed it on the way there!

I just had a hunch I was close. My idea was to measure the height before I left, adjust it to the stock specs (for the 4.8is these were 707mm front/709mm rear or 27.8" front/27.9" rear) and then set the height to 0 when I got to the shop. Fiddled with some more settings too and manually activated the height switch LED's for the various settings. Was super motivating seeing those lights working

I grabbed my tape measure and adjusted it to the right height, getting as close as I could - basically shooting for just under 28". Got it adjusted, decided to use INPA to set the ride height and was heading to the shop. Pulling out of my neighborhood I thought, hey, maybe I should just clear the error in the system. Earlier in the day, RIGHT after doing the level sensor, the SLS error was gone for a way longer time than usual at first start. So who knows. Cleared the error memory now that I was at the correct height and...

The error light stayed off I was elated hahaha. Leaned over, checked to see that magnificent LED for the height settings... glorious green...

Man I was so excited. I didn't think it would work as hours and hours of research led me to believe that DIS was the only real way to set this. ISTA also used a setup that seemed different.

What I eventually ended up doing was pretty simple. I used the manual height control screen to adjust the height to the correct specs, then I went to the "calibrate" screen - then you press "calibrate" again once on that screen to open the calibration menu. It asks for values for each corner. I input all 0's (because this value represents the difference between your current ride height and the ideal ride height and we just manually set it at the right height) and cleared the error.

I will do more driving tonight to confirm it is fixed but I am pretty happy about this

Now make it go up and down. Monitor voltages in Inpa. Watch compressor temp. See where and if it craps out.

What I’ve learned.
1. Air does not like to go down when standing still. Static wheels make sensors act funny.
2. Air up, and let car drop itself down with speed is ideal when dialing in heights.
