2004 3ltr petrol oil leak... any ideas?

hi,
i have a 2004 3ltr petrol x5.
i seem to have quite a large oil leak, but i'm not able to see where it's coming from.
it seems to be roughly half way up the engine.
where are the usual places for it to leak on this model?
thanks

Most common leaks on the M54 engine are the oil filter housing gasket and valve cover gasket. You might check the CCV hoses but not as common as the two leaks mentioned above.
