Unhappy Sunroof issue 2003 4.6is (non-pano)

Hey all,

Well, as you know our E53's sometimes get hungry for new parts when we just finished "feeding" them quite amply. Mine is no different. Just went for a drive and decided to open the sunroof to "vent" mode. Something went pop and now the rear doesn't open correctly as it barely opens. When I put the roof back to closed mode I can hear the motor run as normal and the roof sits back down but when I hit a bump I can hear the glass bouncing up and down a bit. I can open the roof to "open" mode and close it with no issues. Seems like something broke. Can anyone give me some guidance on this one?

Thanks!
Mike in Palm Springs

andrewwynn will become famous soon enough
I would pull out the hand crank from the tool pocket and see if you can manually get it to properly close. Mine has some stripped teeth or something and would also rattle over bumps. A little block of wood between the glass and my roof crossbar Solved the rattle but I still need to take it apart and fix the initial problem.
