Buy a new bolt, try it and hope for the best. If it does not work then Helicoil or the like.

I would clean the threads with an appropriate thread tap but also run a powerful magnet through the hole to pick out any steel if the bolt is steel.
They make tapered Replacement drain plugs for such but also helped a buddy replace his lower oil pan recently when he discovered the pan was cracked right through the drain plug hole. New pan bottom and gasket for under $60 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Once again the garage angels have smiled down upon me. A Napa guy lead me to a wise old, transmission guy around the corner from my house. He found a matching bolt from another GM tranny pan and presto, fit as good as new. The drain plug/thread material looks like HD steel or stainless steel, so it did in fact screw up the bolt threads and not, thankfully, the plug thread hole. Just waiting for the new filter to arrive than bolt it all up and fill to go.. Oddly, my transfer case fluid is perfect rose red and was only a tiny bit low. Next job, figure out why the ABS/DSC lights are on.

Main trifecta cause is bad wiring sadly often that is inside the abs module.

About 4 years ago I paid $1,100 to have a Boulder shop claim they replaced a new abs module and steering angle sensor. The light would be on for few seconds as the vehicle moved forward than turn off. It all seem to working but within a year the trifecta lights were on again. The X drives fine with them on, I need to check several other areas. The abs pump, break pressure switch and all four wheel sensors. But it's to hot here in FL for that right now. Maybe this fall. Strange, on dry pavement/rain roads it drives fine, but in CO without DSC it was dangerously sporadic to drive. That's why I had to pay to have it fixed. Or so I thought.

Before did your DSC light show as activating (flashed) yet the ass end walked out to one side over the other when you hit slick spots? I.e. always to left for example when it started but then swung wildly back and forth....

No it didn't flash, it was just on and brite. It was more of a sloppy feel when driving in snow /slush pack on the road. I had to drive really slow, 15mph, lucky everyone was driving slow in traffic. I think it flashed once during the drive from CO to FL within months after being fixed. I saw a Utube on how to check the sensors for pulse. One on checking the abs pump, but that's as far as I can go. Lucky I live in FL so DSC isn't critical to my driving here.

Ok was just checking as the squirrelly ass end can also be an alignment issue in the rear end that is fixable with new bushings and probably an arm on the side that walks out...

Does your speedometer work?
That's tied in to the left rear. I am chasing a problem in the wiring some where but only when it rains do I get the trifecta and the ABS is slow to release the front calipers when you brake hard.. |
