Stuck 500 miles from home. Misfire Cyl 6. Help!

Clean your fuel with the above and re test your compression. The crappy one was likely from dirty injectors. Wife's car acted just like yours until I ran some cleaner through and it's been perfect since

- How many miles in your 2006 M54?

- Quick question re reset the code (reset DME re injector #6): can an inexpensive tool like Maxi Autel MS300 ($15 item) reset this issue?

Just curious b/c I always carry the Maxi Autel MS300 in the trunk.

PS: this underscores the importance of spark plugs. I replace sp plugs on schedule and keep the old sp plugs in the trunk as spare...This way I can handle these issues in the middle of the corn field lol...

I use a $20 WiFi dongle and an app on my phone. Don't even bother stopping

I use Torque Pro on my head unit and keep a mirror app on my phone. I also keep my NT-510 in the toolkit.

I only run Shell gasoline and do not use any fuel additives. No injector issues, original cats and only one set of Pre-Cat O2 sensors in 361,000 miles.


My friendly neighborhood dealer has said they see the least fuel system problems will Shell gasoline use as well.


2002 X5 3.0 361,300 miles
2014 428i 63,900 miles


2004 325i sold at 123,600 miles
2001 325i sold at 66,000 miles

I wouldn't stress about the compression difference.
If that hole wasn't running for a while there could have been some ring wash.
Test again when you get home after it's been running for a while.
I'll bet it's a higher reading.
