Somebody posted an official BMW memo a loooong time ago stating that parts of the SRS System were disabled when the light was up. Caused a bit of a panic among a couple of owners who had the light and had not got around to buying a Peake SRS scanner to reset the lights.
FWIW.

I read an offical tsb from BMW that said the airbags will deploy full power if the passenger seat occupancy is indeterminant. Eg fail safe; guess there is an adult seated there if you can't tell.

The airbag light would for certain be lit when it can't read the ass sensor and the tsb was clear the air bag would deploy stage two. logic dictates that is at all possible the deployment rules will be followed. If the car doesn't know it's speed at impact that can stop deployment but if there is a minor issue my bet is the minimum of bags at least will deploy.

I've been trying to find a tsb describing the conditions of what type of fault would stop deployment but also logically they would be very tight lipped on sharing that info.

Does anyone know of a source for the small locking tab for the air bag connector in the driver's side door? Thanks.

I didn't find the connector sold separately anywhere. The dealer sells a repair kit that is designed with long leads to go directly to the ECU or airbag controller where ever that is. I am fairly certain there is a connector with that item.

Found a used connector at a local recycler.
