4.6is/4.8is Pre-Facelift Bumper on Facelift 4.4i

Hey guys, before I do a proper introduction in the new member section can anyone help me out please.

I want to add the front spoiler from a 4.6is/4.8is to my facelift 4.4i. I’ve seen lots of fibreglass ones on eBay which I would rather avoid.

Couple of questions:

1) Does a 4.6is pre-facelift entire bumper fit the 4.4i facelift front end?

2) My bumper is in really good condition so could I take the spoiler off the 4.6is and if so will it glue onto my 4.4i?

I know it’s a curve ball question but someone might know. I used to own a 4.6is and sold it to a forum member so there is some love for them here and a lot of knowledgable guys.

Thanks all!

From memory the whole front has to be changed. There are so many differences. But hey, I could be wrong.
Do a search in the "Articles" about those who upgraded to facelift from pre.

+1 to the notion that this isn't really possible (or not without a bunch of bodywork...).

The bumpers are NOT a straight swap - the front fender joint is totally different between the pre and post facelift cars.

There's been a few thread about this...

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...per-06-x5.html

mrbmwx5 has managed to fit the 4.6isS spoiler to a facelift bumper...

*edit* BTW, your post is confusing - the title says you have a pre-facelift 4.4i but the post says facelift 4.4i.

Don’t forget those lights have to change as well.

Get the 4.6 lip and put it on the 4.4. Cheapest.

Get whole 4.8is bumper from facelift. More $$$

Get 4.6 bumper, lights, fenders, probably more stuff. Bags of $$$$$$

That’s great, I’m only looking for the lip spoiler so sounds like I can take it off a 4.6is pre-facelift and bond it to my 4.4i facelift.

Quite right, I am looking to take the lip spoiler off a pre-facelift 4.6is and attach it to my facelift 4.4i.

Thread title edited.

This is correct, as wpol has already provided you the link on how someone else made it.

Cheers!

You don't need to state pre-facelift when discussing the 4.6iS - they are all pre-facelift. After the facelift they became the 4.8iS.

Good luck with your project - let us know how it works out - with pics!

This is a bummer, I too thought about the upgrade, it looks so much more aggressive. I know the ebay fiberglass front bumper isn't idea, but I guess that would be a direct bumper only replacement option. I have no interest in swapping out my fenders and all the other goodies that go along with it just for the cooler look.

Thanks for the info, I would have thought it to be a direct swap.

It is a direct swap, if you include the bumper, headlights, both fenders, the hood and grills in that "direct swap".
