Alameda, CA Need advice on shop for timing chain guides fix
1.) German Auto Services in Alameda, CA - All things being equal this is my top choice as they are located just a few blocks from me. 2.) Bay Bridge Bimmers and Mini, Oakland CA - Good yelp rating and they seem knowledgeable and shop rates are in line with others 3.) San Leandro Auto BMW Service - Same as above, good yelp ratings and the phone conversation was solid I do a lot of work on my own cars and I would probably tackle this one on my own if I had the time and space to leave the car torn apart for a few weeks. As it is, life is just too busy right now and I don't have the mental bandwidth to dig into this. Yeah, it sucks big time but I'm not letting this rare 4.6 go to an early grave. If anyone has had good or bad experiences with the above mechanics I would really appreciate your comments. Any and all advice is welcome. |

Get a look inside with a fiber optic camera.
I've done this job twice. I've used the GAS tools and would not want to give another way. If the price isn't terrible I would probably use the guys who's step by step is what I've followed. Also re do the vanos seals while you have the engine apart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I use European Werkstat in Walnut Creek. I’ve been very happy with their work and integrity.

Just a FYI, I am not in any way connected to him, or his shop. Just know my buddy Mike (05 325) uses him all the time, and after dealing with him myself, I was blown away by his honesty and quality of work. |
