Dead battery what to do? what is this beeping?

O.K so this is what happen. Have not been driving my e53 for a while. Been charging my battery every month or so.

So I unlock my door no problem pop the hood plug in battery tender. Started to hear this beeping sound. So I unplug everything and check the battery 2 volts.

So what is this beeping sound????

So I reconnected the battery tender hoping to charge the battery. The battery tender indicated an error after two minutes (expected that since the battery tender can not charge a completely dead battery.

So where to go from here. I plan to get my old battery charge (one that can charge a completely dead battery) and see if charge my old battery. If that does not work new battery.

You folks see any down side to this plan??? Any suggestion???

Also if I change the battery can I (and should I keep the battery tender plug in so I would not lose my settings.

You can't recharge and use a 2v depleted battery sorry to report. You surely have destroyed cells in that battery. You can test the car for functionality using an external battery attached at the engine bay if you disconnect the battery in the trunk.

Where is the beeping sound coming from? It may be your alarm siren because it has its own rechargeable battery that is kept charge by the vehicle's battery.

And since your vehicle battery is probably a goner...it is no longer charging the alarm siren. When the alarm siren detects a drop in voltage, then it will sound off...interpreting the drop in voltage as a theft attempt.

But since the alarm siren's battery is probably deeply discharged...the power that it has left could be the "beeping" you here.
