4 Year Anniversary! W/ Cost of Ownership Stats
At the dealership the day Mouse and I picked her up in San Jose, California after the wife and I bought her sight unseen (scary as hell): Current: Fun facts: 1. 29,143 total miles on her since purchase. - Year 1: 17,106 - Year 2: 5,375 - Year 3: 3,969 Year 4: 2,693 2. 1,747.05 gallons of fuel has been pumped into her over 90 fillups 3. $4,403.32 total cost of fuel 4. 16.89mpg average over ownership. Best tank 20.76mpg and worst tank 13.91mpg 5. $5,699.42 has been spent on maintenance/parts 6. $4,078.17 has been spent on mods/upgrades 7. $15,836 purchase price (dealer fees/taxes/etc) 8. $30,016.91 total cost of ownership for 4 years Just thought I'd share. Always interesting to look back on the ownership experience. Red's provided me and the family with lots of enjoyment. As a result, no matter how painful she can be for the wallet, she'll be sticking around for a VERY long time. Hell, even this last weekend, took her to an Audi dealership to check out a sakhir orange M3 and had a fair share of the sales force looking at and talking about the truck. This is with a V10 R8 about 20 feet away. Warmed my heart.

5700/48=118.75 monthly parts. I tell everybody budget $100. That's not far off. About $100/mo will keep E53 like new probably forever. I'm thinking you may be a little higher than average with some preemptive parts exchange to really keep it new like.
Great feedback on a sweet ride.

Yeah time sure does fly.
Red is looking pretty sharp. Nice! They are definitely not the cheapest BMW to own that’s for sure. LoL.. But, like you said when you got the family loaded up road trippin, there ain’t to many vehicles that give such an awesome experience!

Thanks. The techs always take pictures when I take it in to the dealership for an inspection. And agreed. Non-BMW fans are rarely able to guess the age of the truck. E53 was designed very well in terms of the design's lasting freshness.
