Silly question I realize, but after all of the work you noted, are you sure it just doesn't need topped off?

That's the thing I can't figure out. I put 8 quarts in it originally, it leaked from the valve cover gasket rear corners (not much) and it leaked from the drain plug. It didn't seem to have leaked out much considering the small amount on the ground. I torqued plug to 18ft lbs then added 1/2 quart and still no reading. I then added another 1/2 quart and then I get the weird reading I'm getting now... Tip is covered then only one side of the middle is coated and the top is sort of spotty. I've tried reading it several different times parked at different angles as well. I know I'll have to wait until I drain it to see exactly how much is in it. I was just hoping someone else has had this issue and that there was one silly thing I just haven't thought of.

You can drain into a clean catch bin and replace

Apparently I've had a good leak from the dipstick tube. It was shockingly low about 3&1/2 quarts. Anyone know the size of the # 13 washer in this link? I found it for sale but it's $8 and that seems excessive. I would like to buy it locally at a store if I could get the sizing.

Number 13 i grayed out which indicates it is not applicable for your vehicle. I find the #14 washer for $5.50 on Turner and a few others. Typically 6.26.

Ok so that makes sense as to why it didn't have the washer on it already. Thank you jcp240z. So apparently the oring is just no longer good. I found another online and purchased it already. 15mm x 25mm.
