Does anyone have issues with Eonon blowing the wiring harness fuse?

I have a GA8166 and every time I turn the ignition on it keeps blowing the 15amp fuse thats on the wiring harness not at the fuse box. I changed it out with another spare I had for the unit and once again blew that out as well. Reconnect my factory system and everything is fine. Non DSP vehicle. 2004 X5 4.4i

When you say you swapped in a spare for testing, did you mean a spare head unit or a spare wiring harness?

I am guessing a wire is crossed (yes sounds obvious) outside the unit or the unit is bad. I think I have read reports of bad harnesses. And a bad unit is certainly a possibility. I would try and swap in both a new harness and a new head unit. Ask around and see if you can borrow either/both from somebody?

Test for ground at the fuse with the unit unplugged. If it's grounded you have a bad/ shorted harness.

I had an older Eonon deck and it worked just fine. Ended up selling that and got the GA8160 and never got it to work in my X5. I thought it was the unit so sent it out to get it repaired which they said it worked but doesn't appear to be. Im wondering if its the wiring that might from the factory harness to the head unit? Unfortunately I don't have another one to test with.

So just to confirm am I keeping the eonon harness plugged into the factory harness and disconnected from the head unit? With the ignition on? Will try that out tomorrow

I might try to find another harness on Ebay or something. Are you using the new harnesss that came with the GA8160, or did you simply plug the GA8160 into the harness used by the old Eonon unit?

Long story short I bought this unit thinking it was new online to find out it was used. Got screwed there and never got it to work so sent it to a shop for repair. Using the harness it came with so I wouldn’t doubt it if it was the wrong one or screwed up with my luck

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the radio plug? I want to compare it with the Eonon plug. Also does anyone know if I have to have the canbus unit plugged in when I try to turn on the unit with just a battery? Want to see if hooking it directly to the battery minus the additional wires if it does the same thing with the fuse
