What scanner are you using to read, that is saying that you have no codes?

Ok.
Not everything will show up on the cluster although limp should still be displayed.

Do you have a low cluster or a high cluster? (1 or 2 push stalks on the dash)

Are you certain that your cluster display is working? (seatbelt, speed message, etc.) because a dead display is NOT unheard of... Ask me how I know

You need to get a scan of your OBD2 codes in any case and a Foxwell NT-510 or NT-520 runs about 99£ from Amazon.uk and the money saved over paying for a scan at an indy shop isn't too bad compared to the stealership price

I mean with all the above let's get a better idea and hope it's not your DME (worst case) imo...

Ok, high cluster and do you still get overspend, seatbelt warnings and so forth (written) not the symbols?

Wait ... did you say there is an overspend indicator on the dash ... awesome. I just need to get my wife to switch over to this x5, then I'll be able to afford genuine parts.
