P0443 Code
And BTW, how many starts will it take for the CEL to go out assuming the new valve fixes the problem?

So it takes 5 starts to reset the P0443 code.
Looked from below and no coolant leak. Opened the expansion tank and the orange float was below the filler neck so bought some coolant and filled it to try to get the float to be at the filler neck. But coolant was ended up to the filler neck. What the heck? Looking closer, my orange float has broken and the top third is gone. It is not in the expansion tank but looking closer, there are orange bits floating in the fluid. I took a turkey blaster and think I got out most of the orange bits and put the fluid perhaps 2” below the filler to allow for expansion, it’s now where it was before I started. The coolant has been flushed by the dealer a few times in the truck’s life. So what is the proper level if you don’t rely on the float- in terms of inches below the filler neck. Is there a risk of orange bits getting stuck in the engine channels or will they remain floating in the reservoir? Should I flush the fluid and get a new expansion tank or not worry about it? My theory is that the float got stuck “up” and was sheared off with twisting the cap- has this happened to anyone? Thanks for the input.
