Looks good.

You installed it with wheels on the ground I assume. Not many places to introduce a clunk doing this install. You torque the 6 strut tower mount bolts to spec? Even goodentight should be fine, but figured I'd ask.

I failed to torque those to spec. I didn't know if it was possible that that strut rod coming up through tower could possibly be tapping the underneath of the footing plates...but would not think that would make for a clunk. I will get the nuts torqued appropriately and check it back out! Thanks for the feedback!

Adam, I just thought about this. If your strut tower mounts are failed and the rubber is bowing up severely... That top rod you are referring to of the strut might hit the plates.

Not sure if you are working on a 4 corner air x5 but I had that happen to me on a 3 series with a badly failed strut mount.

Thanks, CW. How do I tell if strut mounts are failed? Visual inspection from below? It still has 4-corner air suspension in what I thought was perfect shape (would be the only one, I know!)

I'm not even sure if an air strut mount can fail in the manner I described. Was just kind of thinking out loud as I can't think of a reason the mounting plates would be contacted by anything from underneath. As I said I had a 3 series that failed that way. Let me see if I can find a pic.

Here, something like this.

Most likely the strut bolts aren't pulling the strut up tight but strut brace could be causing a front suspension issue to become apparent.
