Could someone confirm this is the correct trim clip?
Could someone confirm that it is indeed #7 below on the RealOEM image (#51327000629) https://www.thebmwminipartstore.com/...mp-51327000629 I think it is but it's not entirely clear from the diagram. Thank you! Christian |

I don't think that part 7 is related to your problem. I think the outer seal is just worn out you'll need to replace the seal (or use a creative fix like clear silicone)

I think you are right, now that I look again at it. Number 7 is for the inside trim. But I do see a clip under the trim. Now I am thinking it's #9. |

There's a clip in there (#7) as shown in the pic. That part needs to be pushed down firmly for the clip to attach to the lower part. But the trim needs to be pushed all the way in on the other end (I used a rubber mallet and gently tapped it in) until it aligns with the door edge. Then firmly push in the part with the clip. I replaced that trim on the driver side with a new one after it was badly scratched by an object in my garage.
The clip comes with the trim and sits in there very tightly but make sure it's not missing though. Were the trims removed and now they're not sitting well after install?

Yes I had to remove the trims, and the problem came after. I just want to have the proper clips before I work on this again - I am pretty sure they are broken. So you are confirming it's clip #7? not #9? Thanks |

I'm confirming that clip #7 is inside the trim as depicted in my pic. I have the old trim in my hand. I had to use a lot of force to pry it off the trim with a screw driver, therefore I believe that clip is still inside your trim. When I installed the new trim, I had a similar problem as you. This was resolved by tapping in the trim on the other end (side mirror side) with a rubber mallet (be gentle!). Once it was in nicely, I just pushed it down firmly beginning from the side mirror end and coming back towards the part with the clip. You're going to tap in from the clip-end to make sure the mirror-end is pushed in all the way.

Just had same issue. Clip 7 was fixable with little bending, but clamp 6 (plastic) was broken for me and trim is little bit off. Clamp nr6 is fixed under b pillar somehow, so changing it may not be easy. Part nr. 51328249159. Also I suggest to take off whole trim, and clean everything while Your on this anyway.
nr6 Looks like this: https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/80433_x800.webp |
