E53 3.0i whine
I have a brand new induction boot and a new DISA valve. Oddly, you cannot hear the whistle in the engine bay with bonnet open, but sit in the car with radio off, heaters off etc and rev it and you can hear it. It goes up and down with the rpm of the engine. here is a video https://www.dropbox.com/s/skw3e6wk8o..._4581.MOV?dl=0 Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

Sounds like coming thru the stereo. I've had similar on other cars. Verify it is not coming through the speakers before digging Into engine. Radio off doesn't mean amplifier off. Very recently a thread was about that particular issue (amp staying on)

Definitely not coming through speakers. My first thought!
People always talk about the intake boot and DISA, but both replaced. Also have a new alternator and sound was there before that was replaced. |

It is your BM54 amp in the rear of the vehicle under the spare tyre. I had the same problem. Went away when I removed the amp and installed an EONON head unit.

There are a dozen speakers. Are you positive? Pull the fuse, that's the only way to be positive. Also: use an app on your phone to measure the sound. I use an app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fft/id298840058 For many troubleshooting jobs, this one is not cheap if I remember but it's paid for itself many times over! Take a scan and pan around the car, there will be distinct peaks you can track Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
