Solved - Wipers started clicking

Today, on every cycle of the wipers, a noticeably loud click is coming from the dash. I could swear the wiper relay is in the engine compartment. Any thoughts on what the clicking could be?

Thanks.

Based on advice below, I pulled off the cowling, but the motor was secure. Clicking wasn't from that area. Fired up the wipers and although it sounded like it was from the dash it was the wiper itself. The tail of the right blade had come out of the arm and the metal reinforcements were clicking on the glass. Embarrassingly simple fix. Cowling removal not needed, although it did allow me the time to clean the leaves and debris out .

Usually it's loose screws that holds the motor. Remove the trim under the hood above the cabin filter.

Also, the wiper if the universal adapter that holds the blade had some slack off will make a very loud click when the blade flips past vertical (one of mine is doing every that)

What AW said, my guess is that the screws on the motor itself are loose or the screw that holds the linkage on the passenger side may be loose.

When the ice stops, I'll get under the hood. It's at the bottom of the stroke transition. Sounds like a really loud relay. Thanks guys!

One off the first fixes on wife's X5 was that the linkage arm was broken and caused a very loud clunk. I just made a splint from some sheet metal and self tapping screws
