Shifter Knob Replacement

I have been looking at either replacing the shifter knob in my E53 but have not found many alternatives that fit. Have any of you replaced your shifter knob with an aftermarket one? (preferably one that doesn't look like the OEM one, so something a little sportier looking) Or as an alternative to replacing the whole knob, how do you remove the small trim insert on the stock knob? I am thinking of just wrapping the insert in vinyl. Any input would be awesome!

That’s definitely a cool retrofit there, but I was more looking for one I could just install hassle free in place of the factory one.

Yes. that's not my taste either. But then since the OP asked....

Here is m5 smg shift knob and I think this one looks better.

I actually just ordered a sheet of 3M carbon fiber vinyl wrap, so I am going to do all of the interior trim. Which takes me back to the question of removing the trim insert on the shifter knob, which through a thorough search have yet to find. Also on a kind of side note, anybody know how many square feet or inches I would need of wrap to do all the imterior trim pieces, including the center console area?
