Perhaps once you disable the TPM system, the warning changes to be the basic FTM and the new tyres casued the TFTM to trip - which they would, as you need to reset the FTM system when changing tyres etc.

Fits what happened...

On instrument cluster there is a separate coding option for indirect tyre pressure warning. This is active on post 3/2004 models if it does not have the separately optional direct tyre pressure warning. So if the direct warning system is coded out the indirect system is not automatically active. It also has to be coded on.

Did the european spec models have a TPMS installed ? I don't have one on mine.

Iirc Pre facelift European models had monitoring systems via in wheel sensors as an option. Post facelift models use the abs system and was fitted as standard.
