When was the last time you changed the ATF or checked its level? How many miles on the odometer?

Depending how steep that might be the proper gear. Not healthy for an engine to be in too low of RPM with high torque demand. Will it upshift and stay when you do a quick lift off the throttle? Also in m/s how does the engine sound in 4th.
I have a couple apps that use a WiFi connection to obc and will report real-time horsepower & torque, it would be a helpful tool to get some readings

I can feel a difference in gear selection in my neighborhood hills (minor incline) and that is a very low load, just leaving my house. I can definitely feel the difference from level surface to incline, even with the ever so slight climb. Mine will stay in second and delay the shift to 3rd until I crest the incline.
Mine is a 3.0L with the GM AT: 5L40-E/GM5 (A5S 390R)
