2002 x5 brake lights intermittent flickering.

I started my x5 the other day to warm it up, when I returned to get in it all the brake lights were flickering. The problem went away somewhere on the drive to work. But has returned a few times since. When I'm experiencing this problem I cannot get the brake lights to turn on from pushing the pedal. I once noticed they were stuck on even though I wasn't pushing the pedal, but only for a brief moment. Any ideas on where to start with this issue?

Is the brake light orange or red? If itís read it means youíre low on fluid usually

LCM fault or you have LED lights installed and don't have the cold check coded out.

I assume you are talking about the brake lights outside not the dashboard brake warning light?

I totally misread that. Heís talking about the taillight lamps.

First pull codes and see what codes are there. Often this type of problem ends up being the switch.

Also a short can cause similar symptoms when the LCM disables the circuit

Sounds like a faulty brake switch. Which can casue other dramas beyond just flickering tail lights, btw...
