Dinan4.6is is on a distinguished road
I think it boils down to the DINAN bits, and the average buyer not understanding the difference they make.
Don’t think I would end up parting all the way down to the shell. More so, just the Dinan parts, and then just sell as-is locally.

Yes, but there are many of us out there that do understand what you have. It seems a real shame to part out a well sorted X5 with the valve stem seals already done. If I had the cash, I'd buy it from you. I love the color and I can tell it has been well maintained and cared for. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that feels that way, but has the cash to pay for it.

I think you can sell it intact for what you want if you have patience.

Good luck!

Try taking some very good quality pics and have a lengthy description then post it on multiple forums and Autotrader. I did that with my 02 estoril 4.6is with 142k and pretty much got what I was asking about three weeks later.

Perhaps on cars.com also. The S2 package also had the high flow throttle body to match to the Dinan air intake tube. If you decide to sell Dinan parts separate I would sell the airbox, MAF, and throttle body as a set. Without the greater diameter Dinan MAF and the throttle body, the gain from the airbox is reduced. S2 package also came with a dash plaque. If you have that it helps.

If the condition of the paint and exterior is great, in that color, with guides and chains done, lots of receipts, all the Dinan upgrades and if you can be patient there are buyers that will pay a premium. My guess is not more than 30% of a similar miles and condition stock 4.6is.

Honestly I sold mine for $8k three years ago with 79k miles being second owner with full service history after putting $2k into myself and being stranded twice with it. No matter how ahead I was of things it still broke on me in most inopportune moments. I understand that you spent a lot of money keeping this in good shape but it can’t be worth your time negotiating nickel and dimes for parts and then having to deal with swapping them out. Just take what you can get for it and call it a day. It’s going to take forever to part this and then try to put it back together to sell. It’s only worth what someone will pay for it and it’s my two cents. No offense. If I had extra cash and extra garage space I’d probably get this for my weekend toy but never again as only car.

I got my 03 estoril blue 4.6iS 2 years ago @ 95,000 miles for $9,500. Changed the ATF oil, alternator, water pump, belt tensioner, chain tensioner, nav screen, and entire front end suspension except the tie rods. Everything works and engine idle smooth and runs great. Getting about 14~15 combined mpg.

There’s a nagging engine oil leak that makes the entire bottom of engine compartment look like a well oiled dirt magnet. It’s leaking slowly so I only need to add about a quart every other month or so. Want to replace the engine mount and the steering u joint next.

Valley pan, finding that oil leak, and then the dreaded guide job next.

But I drive it on the weekends and it’s so much fun. It hasn’t left me stranded yet, knock on woods.
