2A63 Error - Limited to 3k, 1.5k... won't start!!!

Hi gang - very long time no see about my beautiful 2006 Imola Red 4.8iS; I have a great indy workshop here in Abu Dhabi that's been supporting me a treat! He loves X5 owners..

Right now I'm disappointed that my careful inspection of the fuses has ended with the truck not starting - I parked it 2 floors underground so I can't even get it towed

It began with loss of power; revs seemed to be limited to 3,000 as I turned up to work, and the 'Trans Failsafe' warning came up. I've had experience of this being a weak battery issue before, so I had the mobile guy come by and swap it for a new battery.

When I started it after work it gave the Engine Failsafe and wouldn't rev above 2,000 RPM but I couldn't keep it in the staff parking, so I crawled it home 4 blocks at 3 mph (approx.!!).

I got my laptop with INPA to read the codes -

2A63 Valvetronic - "Stellmotor: Uberwachung Schwergangigkeit, Drehrichtung"

2A6B Valvetronic - Leistungsbegrenzung (P1062 - VVT - Notlaufanforderung (Bank 1) Vollhubsposition nicht erreicht"

2F71 - E-Box "Lufter Ansteuerung"

After looking into some common causes - VVT Mod controller appeared to be one, so I took the lid off the box under the hood. I very carefully tested all the fuses and put it back exactly as found... now the bastard wont start!!!!

Would it be worth going to pick up a replacement VVT Module and trying this? Since I can't even tow it the 20 miles to my workshop. I just got a paint job for the registration renewal and it was looking hot, so am so disappointed the engine situation got worse

Quick update...

Put the slow charger on last night and it did start this morning

Worth swapping the VVT module now?
