Just read this: https://www.wired.com/story/coronavi...=pocket-newtab

Pretty good article from someone who would be called an expert in most circles. Warning: he does bash Trump a little bit though the article isn't particularly slanted towards one party or another.

Another thing. I have long felt that N95 masks were probably reasonably effective at preventing exposure through the mouth or nose. Why else would China, South Korea, etc have an entire population doing it if it weren't. The epidemiologist here confirms my belief. It is not 100% effective (which he acknowledges) but it is not an insignificant amount of protection. I always felt the powers that be saying they are not effective was more a measure to prevent hoarding and free up masks for medical personnel. Which again, he acknowledges is the correct thing to do.

Anyway, those who want to, give it a read. I found it informative and have meant to watch Contagion for a week or two now (he was a technical adviser for the movie). Everyone try to keep your heads up.

No sorry to hear that, or I hope your family recovers. And then everyone wonders why our country has gone to shit!

No one on this board has any REAL sympathy, because if you did there would have been replies, even if you don’t like me.

That’s why we’re in the situation we’re in. Because nobody give a shit anymore.

But, for me.. I pray to Jesus all of you here on this board and your families, friends, or whoever is important to you be healed in the name of Jesus.

I don’t care if y’all don’t like me. It’s not going to stop me from praying for y’all while we’re going though this VERY hard time.

Sorry you are offended, and glad all is better now.

It's likely that there are not that many following this thread. And there are some of us that missed that post. Even if the opposite is true, lack of empathy has not been my forum experience.

It’s not that I was Per se personally offended. My hope was to change the direction of the thread, using a personal experience.

I’ve noticed the politically charged environment these days, and I think it’s unhealthy. For roughly 8 years I’ve been visiting xoutpost, and it was always a place for discussing our good times and bad times with are E53’s, and maybe a joke here and there. I have no other social media accounts, zero. My wife told me whether I like it or not xoutpost is a type of social media, but I never closed it because it’s always been informative.

There is definitely empathy on this forum with out a doubt. I also hope I did not fracture any relationship I have made on this forum, and I personally apologize if I came off harsh. My point was only to send a message that we need to come together right now more the ever. Division will only allow this negative atmosphere, not only on this thread, but more importantly in our society, to tear us further apart. This seems extremely dangerous to me during the current time, while people are falling ill by the hour.

My family to this point received healing, and I pray their continually protected from any illness, virus, injuries, or harm, as well as every family on this forum.

How many people in this thread, the very first thing they did was to blame trump in some direct, indirect or veiled way.

Hope yall who are being critical are going to shred your $1000 'aid' cheques . He's not your president anyway right ?
It's all political, and you guys know it. Admit your biases. This further solidifies my belief that the political left are dealing with a internalized unhinged mental trauma from when Hillary CLinton lost in 2016. "Im with HER"

I'm watching from Canada, and I've got nothing invested in the outcome. But I really enjoy watching you folk melt down for the last four years because your team lost. Grow up, babies.

Learn to take this pandemic seriously. Millennials need to grow up and consider going out and partying outside in a pandemic isn't cool. Boomers need to grow up and stop living in denial of reality.

While I agree with you that the pandemic is not trump's fault I think you are missing some nuances in your criticisms. The left and the right, the extremes anyway (which seem to be all you hear from nowadays) share the same whiny mentalities. They just whine over different things.

As I have said I can not stand Trump. This was long before he became a political figure. But, and I cannot emphasize this enough, I DO NOT want him to fail as the President. If he fails, we all lose. I want him to do a good job. Rooting for him to fail is a terrible position to take.

Numbers are escalating. Everyone stay safe.

Are the seasonal flu casualties of 2019-2020 being accounted for?? CDC estimates that from 2010-2011 to 2017-2018, influenza-associated deaths in the United States ranged from a low of 12,000 (during 2011-2012) to a high of 79,000 (during 2017-2018).

Hi Happy. So sorry to hear about your plight. It is very unfortunate that one of our own in this community is faced with such horifying and sad situation.

I sincerely hope your family recovers soon, and all the best to you and your family!

Sorry that I didn't see your post soon enough. I had a tumultuous week myself, didn't come back to this thread until today.

As far as I can tell the numbers are off on both non-coronavirus cases and coronavirus cases alike. I think they are very much an estimate with under reporting happening for both active cases and for deaths. Most of this is due to the wide spread nature of the beast and that most countries aren't able to test enough, like the US. So it's hard to either be comforted or scared by the numbers as they are far from accurate. I don't think anyone believes the numbers coming out of China either. They seem way to low compared to the rest of the world even with draconian quarantines in place.

We might find out more accurate numbers after this is all over... or we might not.

You can easily state your opinions without a negative characterization of those that disagree with you.

No one I know blames Trump for the Corona virus. Nor does Clinton losing have anything to do with their opinions about Trump. Trump earns his criticism every day---the virus is a Democratic hoax, the 15 will all be better soon and that's it, it is contained, we have a drug that will treat it, a vaccine that will be available in weeks, etc. Most recently that we need to open the country on Easter and we should all pack the churches to celebrate victory that the virus threat is over. It's a good thing Trump can't open the country.
It's easy to see why there are those that don't realize the magnitude of the problem.

Those ignoring guidelines are the exception rather than the rule. The vast majority take the pandemic very seriously. We were self quarantined a week before Dallas and surrounding counties declared to shelter in place. This area is just starting up the ramp. Trump, and our Lt. Governor by the way, are saying we should go back to work. Paraphrased-- economy is more important than the lives that will be lost.

Would you like Trump as your Prime Minister?

I’m neither a Republican nor a Democrat, I’ve voted for both in the past. But I can’t understand why, after all the heartless, idiotic comments and suggestions coming out of his mouth lately, that some people still think he’s doing a great job.
