No luck with INPA on 2002 E53 3.0i

I made another attempt to get INPA / DIS working with no luck. I purchased the 'kit' in 2017 on eBay from the Romanian guy (catastefy) and it included:

INPA version is 5.0.6
DIS v57
OBD USB cable labeled Autolynks Edia 1 Baujahr1996-03/2007
Cable driver 2.08.28 (FTDI)
SSS, NcsExpert, WinKfp, Config KDCAN cable (none of which I've tried but are installed)

My machine is running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

I originally had the Port setup wrong so I fixed that. I had the IP address problem in DIS but I fixed that. I had a DIS VMware issue with the clock speed so I fixed that. After it still didn't work, I upgraded the driver to 2.12.28 but still it won't read. It seems to acknowledge the connection to the OBD port but it can't read any information.

The errors I'm getting in INPA are:
These come in a popup labeled Variant checking
"IFH-0006: COMMAND NOT ACCEPTED. Program will be stopped!"
"IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTRLUNIT. Program will be stopped!"
"Request control unit: 'MS430DS0' not found. Control unit found: '???'. Program will be stopped!"

This came in a popup labeled EDIABAS-Error
"ApiCheckJobStatus: Error #19
IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROL UNIT
API job error or no such result !
Continue script processing?"

In DIS I got errors 200.19 and 200.102 and basically anything I tried it said it can't find the control unit or diagnosis bus error or something similar.

I tried reloading INPA and DIS with the installer but no change. I tried all key ignition positions, even tried while the car was running, but no change. It just seems like the cable is not reading anything even though its plugged in, the Port is set correctly, and the light is on.

I did not solder or jump any connectors on the cable because its not clear which models that applies to and from what I can find its only for later model years plus the cable specifies for 1996-2007. I can check this but I should be able to read something even with the cable not jumped.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

One of my friends over on E46Fanatics is setting up members computers over TeamViewer and flashing DME and EGS softwares for free. Run over to that forum and send Balidawg a message. Great guy and does this all for free but I would toss him a little money for his time if he gets you up and running. He is the left coast as well, just down in the OC area.
