@Boston...I think Clavurion is trying to simplify this for you, as my instructions might be for a higher level. Try his advice first and lets see if we can proceed.

Great advice since I couldn't get coding tool to work. Did what you said about copying folder worked perfect. Here are the screenshots of when I read the DSC module profile:

https://ibb.co/xqbJdPr

https://ibb.co/HXfSjLD

I didn't take one of the screen that shows DSC was selected, but everything was done like in the pictures Rocket sent and looked same on my end.

Rocket I know you were curious how our numbers would compare:

So now that I have that info saved in Notepad file, can I swap modules? Thanks for all the help so far guys.

As mentioned earlier, you really don't need a copy of the original DSC module. But if you want to keep a copy, pull the trace file with change job, Codeirin_lessen. It will be in your work folder called FSW_PSW.trc. I never save the NETTODAT text file.

Good work, Boston!

Now that we have that info, you can technically get DSC modules from E39s and just reprogram accordingly. I've tried searching on the some of the daten files for what those parameters mean. For instance, you will have varying tire sizes and wheelbase that the DSC would want to know about.

Boston effectively already did the "reading" routine with the module. The only difference would be extension name if I remember correctly.

Hey guys I installed module from junkyard and no change, now it seems it's in trans fail safe mode. No message on dash yet, but I've dealt with that before and has all symptoms. Trifecta still on and speedometer not working just like before only with the added bonus of starting in 3rd gear from a stop...

Haven't tried to load profile from old module yet. This E53 is funny, owning it for 2 years I should be used to her kicking me in the nuts, but everytime she does it still hurts lols.

Gonna hookup laptop and will see what I can find.

Just follow the instructions in the link posted in post #54. I still think you will need to calibrate the steering sensor?

Just an update guys, I cannot access the DCS module says cannot communicate. This is the error info from the engine module:

Before hooking up laptop I tried Foxwell to read and clear codes in engine module and I've included picture of that as well. Seems like it's having a CAN issue with DSC and transmission.

I think you just found your problem. Start tracing the 2 CAN wires from transmission connector and ABS connector. My first guess would be on the transmission connector underneath. Is it clean?

A short in the wire to the transmission could cause problems everywhere. I would start at that connector especially since itís been at fault before.

Your car is a true 2001 no 20 pin connector.

First clean your transmission connector And put some "nail polish" on the pins. Then check the wire connection at the obd port. You've been having an issue with foxwell not staying connected when driving indicates a loose wire is likely.

Ok thanks for the info guys. It's raining right now here hoping it stops and dries out a bit so I can get under and check the transmission connector. Will update when I do.
