This module from the junkyard. You need to verify if you can communicate to it. I would use INPA for this and attempt to communicate to the DSC. If you're getting other CAN faults, this could imply something is crashing the bus--possibly a defective module from said junkyard. Swapping out a module isn't going to "magically" fix any of your trifecta lights. It needs to be programmed/parameterized and as well as other stability control devices/sensors need to go through proper learning routines. In addition, we are using the additional test-module to verify those signals are all reading correctly. Your goal: Verify communication to DSC via INPA Verify all WSS are read via DSC Verify SAS is also read via DSC AND can do the whole span (turning all the way left to right) with logical numbers Verify yaw sensor data is reading logically as well These all encompass "DSC" for your trifecta lights. I might be leaving out a few things..but that's the general gist. If you can't communicate to the module, I'd wager its either defective or completely wrong type. Someone was also nice enough to post the network architecture for your vehicle as well. I would study this..and understand how things are communicating. Next question to you...did you contact Matt @cheapABS yet? What was his advice? What's the plan with your OE DSC?

I would first remove the DSC connector and check again if CAN problem on EGS is solved. If not check if you can connect steering angle sensor with diagnostics. If the whole CAN bus fails communication between DME and instrument cluster doesn't work and the temp gauge shoots to red when ignition is turned on.

Oh that's also a bit duh. After cleaning trans module pulling the plug on the abs in case there is an internal short killing the buss.
That said only changing from foxwell to computer cable knocked out your connection so very good odds a loose or damaged wire in your obd plug or under the dash Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Three old module stopped reading both left wheels. Strange that RPM of the wheels all four showed up in the transmission module. Does the transmission module read the wss directly?
I think there is a damaged wiring loom. I'm betting when the engine was swapped, the banged a loom maybe crushed the insulation on a few wires and now some water worked it's way in and causing a weak short. This car when @Boston bought it had a water filled transmission connector. Odds extremely high it's filled with water again.

Rocket I agree about not starting to chase other problems. As soon as I had module installed I tried to connect to INPA so I could code and that's when I ran into this issue of not being able to connect.
Clavurion that's a good idea about removing DSC module connector and seeing if the EGS CAN issue goes away. I went outside and hooked up scanner again and I was only able to connect to 3 modules out of them all: DME, EGS, and steering angle, the rest I cannot. Andrew I totally agree about starting with the transmission connector and then looking at the OBD port. It rained all day or I would have done those both earlier. I am not exactly sure about the relationship between the DME and EGS, but according to the CAN diagram Overboost posted a page or two back it looks like they communicate directly. Hopefully someone has a definitive answer and can clarify because that would be good to know. There is a possibility of the loom being damaged also like you mentioned. At least I have a plan of attack for tomorrow morning when it's not raining and I can work on it further.

The DME is a "gateway" so to speak for the AGS. There is no direct CAN to the AGS and DSC. If this junkyard DSC is crashing the bus...it would also be crashing the IKE and SAS. Most likely the DME and AGS run at higher baud-rates than the DSC I'm guessing.
Clavurion has a good idea of simply checking the SAS for functionality as this is key in the vehicle's stability strategy. You'll know your CAN is in good health when the DSC can communicate via INPA...AND THEN you can view the steering angle signals from the DSC. Does that make sense? Here is a nice topology to better explain the CAN backbone. Quote:
Hmm...interesting.

On the OBD2 block. Mine was cracked sometimes not allowing communication with the can bus. I would suspect that it could have also caused the system to spaz out due to a short/cross communication. The only way I found my cracks was to pull the block and attach the connector which spread the cracks enough to find.

OBD2 block? You mean the port?

Just an update. I went under car and checked trans connector, it didn't look bad but I cleaned and reconnected.
Then went to the OBD port inside car yanked kick panel and checked all wires and pins I didn't see anything that was wrong. So while I had it out and the OBD loose I hooked up the scanner like EOD recommended, looked at codes found code for CAN time out to AGS module and DSC. Which according to all the info and diagrams provided by you guys is directly linked to DME. So I opened up the box where DME/AGS modules are and someone has definitely been in there before which is bad news. This car had a motor swap done before I bought it. There are so many wires I'm gonna locate a pinout for the DME and check the wires that go from DME to AGS because they are right next to each other but I'm getting a CAN timeout.

After messing with the car for hours and trying a few different things with no change, I put original module in and trans fail wasn't on anymore, cluster is working again besides speedometer, and I can access all modules. So the junkyard module must have been totally dead.
Andrew is going to send me a known working module later this week so I can try that. Will update then.
