My WiFi does the same thing. I always have to start the WiFi connection anytime I need to connect to the internet. Always defaults to off but not really an issue for me. Anytime I need it, I just connect.

I might have to get its own dedicated wifi (the one that's connected to the OBD port).
I'd like to know what you did to get the songs to show too.

I also have the same issue with the hot spot. It's kind of annoying, but at least it works.

I think that is feature in ibus app under IKE setting.

To have the unit autoconnect to your android phone wifi, here's how to using the tasker android app. Found the info in bimmerpost. The android phone connects via bluetooth to your X5 - Tasker will tell it to turn on the hotspot and then turn it back off when the X5 disconnects.

Unfortunately for iphone users, the tasker app does not do the same thing on IOS platform. I haven't yet found an app with similar functionality as the adroid tasker app. It seems iphone OS by design does not allow the feature to be enabled. So we're stuck with manually opening the Personal Hotspot setting so that the android unit auto connects to the iphone wifi.
