My understanding is the DME will pull the plug on spark and fuel when it can't read cps.
And that is why I asked him which side was bank 1.

The driver side is Bank 2. That is why I asked the question. You changed the cam sensor to bank 2, but if the trouble code is for bank 1 you didn't do anything.

Do you have a LHD X5 or a RHD X5? Since we need to know which side is the driver side.

Bank 1 is on the passenger side of the car, assuming you have a LHD X5.

Bank one is always on the right side doesn't matter if the car is LHD or RHD.

It sounds like OP changed the sensor on bank two and still has error on bank one. I would replace in pairs and put a working pull in the trunk for back road recovery.

My reply was Bank 1 is on the passenger side, not the right side, since the OP doesn't seem to know which side Bank 1 is located.

No start after transmission repairs..

"passenger side" is a vague term that should not be used in a world wide forum where it is incorrect 30-40% of the time which is why I used the always correct and proper RIGHT side aka "starboard" side. The side with the oil fill cap on an M62 is bank one. The OP mentioned 5-8 cylinder which also means bank two.

These details about right = one and left = two are for everybody, and I've commented *many* times on xo that nobody should ever use the imprecise terms of passenger side and driver's side. Do people really not know left from right?!

Guys,

I did not mean to cause any confusion but I live in Chicago and it's a LHD car. I checked the error again and it is on Bank 2. I am struggling to get errors out of the computer because the jump starter (NOCO GB50) can only crank the car 2-3 times and then everything dies. So I have to recharge and test again since I only have one car.

So after I replaced the Camshaft sensor on that side with A2 error (involving cylinders 5-8), I still have error on that side although this one only mentions the Camshaft sensor compared to other one stating 'Camshaft / Crankshaft correlation cylinder 5-8).

Once again, I checked the fuses quickly inside the engine and they were all ok. So I should proceed with checking cables?

Thanks for all your help once again. Sorry if I caused any confusion..

Cheers,

Ozzie

Instead of trying to start it with a jump pack, you should charge the battery. You can crank the engine a lot longer with a fully charged battery instead of trying to use the jump pack.

If you don't have a battery charger now will be a good time to purchase one if you want to continue working on your car. Charge the battery over night and it should be fully charged by the morning.

Any other ideas please?

Thanks,
