Since the pump holds pressure when operating normally, you'll get a splurt when removing, better gauges have a pressure release vent so you have better control of where that goes but a paper towel wrapped around the end works ok. I have misophonia and can't tolerate rattles at all zero percent. I'm able to keep my truck 100% rattle free. I do have clunks and now a bearing going out fortunately ruh ruh ruh is not a trigger for me.

The other suspect part is crank sensor. I almost ordered at the same time. I suspect the FPR and I "knew it wasn't the pump" right away when I remove the old one and I could hear it whirr as it's supposed to. I did not smell gas as if flooded so I do not suspect leaky injectors.

I just replaced the Fuel Pump.
Ignition on: 49psi Ignition off: 43psi After 30 minutes: 33psi How long is it supposed to take to leak down? Is it supposed to be a sealed system that maintains pressure long term? Or is it expected to leak down? If it's not the fuel pump/check valve, and I can't find any leaks along the fuel lines, would it be the injectors? I didn't yet replace the Filter/Regulator, but I didn't think there was a check valve in there that would impact fuel leak down. Correct me if I'm wrong please. Thanks! Edited to Add: While driving, randomly from time to time I smell gas. Don't know why or what that means but thought I'd mention it.

0 psi now in only a few hours. Last time it took 2-3 days to reach 0psi before changing the pump out.
No leak at the supply line that attaches to the pump housing. So either a leak somewhere else... Or the regulator has something to do with it? Or the injectors. I'll change the FPR tomorrow and see how it goes.

Replaced the fuel pump and it seems to lose pressure even faster.
Replaced fuel filter and no improvement. I bought a cheap fuel check valve to install near the pump under the back seat temporarily just to confirm whether or not the new pump may be faulty. If that solves the pressure issue then either the pump check valve is bad, or the hose connections from the pump to the housing inside the tank is loose. If the check valve doesn't help I can at least rule out the pump area. I'll pull up the injectors in that case and see if I can observe any leakage. But I don't think I'm getting any black smoke, so it seems unlikely to me. Only other thing I can think of is a fuel system leak somewhere along the lines, which would be really annoying to say the least. I'm sure those aren't easy to observe.

Just wanted to come back here to conclude the thread in case anybody else runs across this same issue.
I replaced the Fuel pump with a $70 Amazon special. Fuel pressure was still dropping when sitting. I replaced the Fuel filter in case something in there was leaking. Fuel pressure was still dropping when sitting. I installed an in-line fuel check valve by the fuel pump just in case the check valve in my cheap replacement was faulty. Fuel pressure was still dropping when sitting. I got a set of reman Siemens injectors off eBay for $90, pulled up the fuel rail, and saw cylinders 1, 3, 4 and 5 were all leaky. Not spraying out under pressure or anything like that, but every time I touched my finger to the nozzles there'd be more fuel on my finger. Replaced injectors.... everything is hunky dory so far. The hard starting issue was 75% eliminated with the fuel pump replacement, and now with the new injectors it's 100% there. I can leave it sitting for days and it'll start right up, and no longer sounds like it'll stall when first starting. I can turn the key by leaning over from the passenger side and not need to run over to the gas pedal to get it to stop sounding like it'll stall. I was praying that it would also fix my Front-Bank O2 sensor problem (reading Out of Range) and get rid of the pesky CEL that's plagued me since buying this thing.... No such luck, it came back on after resetting the computer. Thanks all for the help and advice!

Wow. I've been going through similar problem with wife's x but my pressure drop stripped after changing the fuel filter.
Turned out it was almost certainly just this o-ring failed. I will be conducting a test to confirm this when I replace my fuel filter later this summer.
