Special thanks to RBTech for the though to check with Rover.
Great news ! Thanks for confirming

How was this installed? My 07.02 appears to have the rubber portion of the button integrated into the whole license plate light trim piece. Maybe this is not an option for mine...

Here you go! Maybe it just appears that way due to age?

Looks like the same as mine where the rubber part comes out. Mine was having a problem where water was getting into the switch so I just removed the rubber part and no problem since. (My point being you can remove the rubber part to determine it's the same and leave off while waiting for part)

I have had the rubber replacement part from range rover linked above for a while now. It may just be able to stick a pick in the groove to remove it. It looked bonded together at first which is why I never replaced it but after looking at it now it may be a separate piece. Now I have to figure put where I stored the replacement piece...

I suspect it’s just stuck together from the age

I pulled the piece that was separating out and the old and new appear slightly different? Does the whole license plate light assembly have to come off to replace just the rubber or is the new one I have totally different?

I got it to fit in place and does seem it will do the job of keeping water out but I assume this a different design and not proper for my 7.02 4.6iS. I only ever had one of the two buttons working and I had to rig it up previously to get the license plate lights to function due to corrosion (ran a wire from the working side to the non working side to give it power) so I will probably source a used assembly alrwady painted in Imola with the trunk release rubber in good shape...
